Not quite messed up anymore
EVALUATION: GOAL MET AS EVIDENCED BY FOUR YEARS' WORTH OF TRASH
OUT OF MY ROOM AND INTO THE TRASH CAN OUTSIDE THE HOUSE.

Furthermore, after four years of staying exactly the same way, I thought it was also time for stuff in my room to get rearranged. Upon doing so, I realized the following:

1. that I have a freakishly huge bed and I never should have tried moving it all on my own coz it didn't even budge;

2. that the laptop and booming speakers should've never ever been situated atop the STUDY table. That explains my past unsuccessful attempts at sitting quietly on my study table and ACTUALLY studying there for real (instead of logging on to facebook or watching DVDs);

3. that I have TOO MUCH junk for one person; and

4. that I didn't spend 9 hours straight of cleaning up today for no reason at all. The purpose was so that I could start thinking straight. Well I don't think I've mentioned it yet but for me, a clean room equals a clear head. Yea.:)

Speaking of thinking straight, YEP I badly need that one. March is almost over. THE BIG THING COMES THIS JULY..

By the way, graduation day is four days from now but my thoughts about it haven't been completely formulated yet. I need time for it to sink in.. However, the dominant feeling right now is GRATITUDE.. tremendous gratitude to HIM and certain special people. :)

Here's a photo from our recent Pinning Ceremony.. courtesy of my friend Jan.

Ciao! I believe I shall be blogging again SOON. No, soon does not mean three months from now..:D

sometimes, you earn the right to rant
Last Thursday, the day I've been anxiously anticipating for weeks now has finally been over. You've guessed right if you thought of THESIS DEFENSE.

The verdict? Passed with some revisions.
Coolest thing ever.:D

I will not go into details about the things I had to put up with during the whole process of doing the study because it'd be pointless by now. Now that I've finally gotten through it, I'm just glad to be able to say that I truly deserved passing because I know that I worked for what I've earned, as well as some other groupmates who stood by me.

The rest of the group have the freedom to evaluate themselves too. I'm not putting myself in the position to judge others because it wouldn't be necessary. They know themselves well and they each know how they've performed throughout this whole thing. You can play apathetic but you can't possibly lie to yourself.

So yeah. I believe I'm ranting again. But this is the very first time I've ranted about thesis stuff so give me a break.

Anyway, being just in time for stress release, Thony was again invited by Dialogo to play for them at the SMB Battle of the Bands last Saturday night. Of course, being his official groupie, I was there to watch and cheer for the band. They totally rocked with "Message in a Bottle." :D

I had fun at the event except for those times the emcee had to take over the microphone. No host could be grumpier than the guy they had that night. I think he had issues with some of the bands or something. But still. Dude, it's a "happy" event. No need to be all scroogy.

I'm really liking this four-day weekend thing. It should be made regular. LOL.:D
P.S. Hi to my friend Nico! Thanks for dropping by. You always make me laugh like mad. :)

kicking off summer
03.30.09 with Group 47 at the Anvaya Cove, Bataan.

A summer getaway.. just what our group needed before we officially start off with the thesis proper. It was a day that would remind us that we actually do love each other whenever we already feel like ripping each other's throats out because of the pressure we are surely about to face.

This is not the first of our group's bonding episodes though. We've been finding ourselves out together a lot lately.. mostly procrastinating at Ate Jayzelle's house, at the mall or at some random bar 'til dawn. This group has definitely developed and is now very different from the group I saw on that very first day of the semester. They're not merely classmates to me anymore, they're real friends.:')

Unfortunately, this blog has missed out a lot on this sem's most memorable moments. Maybe I'll try to write a recap just before I leave for the summer affiliation.

I miss blogging. I miss a lot of things.. AND PEOPLE.
Ciao!

P.S. Can't wait to hit the beach again tomorrow with my dear girlfriends!:)

grace under pressure
photos of the event are posted at annscreams.multiply.com

How do you start writing about a really really long story which for you is somehow too big for words? Err. That's my problem right now. Let me just put it this way..

Soo.. AUF's Mr. and Ms. University 2008 is finally over.
And I won. LOL. There. I said it.

I don't even know how to tell the tale or where to start or which details I should disclose. The whole experience is just surreal. I mean, it's not like I joined Ms. Universe, Ms. Earth or Bb. Pilipinas, but this event is still "something", at least for me and the rest of my university.

"All I want is perfection, nothing else" If I'm not mistaken, our director screamed that at us, the 24 candidates, during our first real rehearsal for the coronation night.

Last December 6, I was NOT exactly the embodiment of perfection. I even had my fair share of bloopers on stage, having exited the wrong way during the sportswear competition (LOL!!haha:D). Nevertheless, I came out there as, well, ME. Truth is, the competition was not what was mainly in my mind. Instead, I thought about enjoying every moment of it because somehow, even if I don't admit it a lot, the whole thing is a dream which actually came true. Oh and yes, I also focused on not tripping over. haha.

The venue was perfect. Much like a scene straight out of a fairytale book where royalties vied for one crown. However, what was happening backstage was a complete opposite. Chaos is the word. Good thing my mom never left me. What could I have done without her?!

Anyway, for the record, I got the title Ms. University along with JD Hizon as Mr. University. We were both candidates #11. I guess 11 was a lucky number that night.:) I was awarded Ms. Photogenic and for some surprising and unknown reason, I was also Best in Sportswear.

I know it's too early for thank you's but the support I received from the following people is just overwhelming: my wonderful parents (best parents on earth!!), my sister Christine, the rest of my family, Thony, Red, Biggies, Rochelle (wish I could do it the way she did it), all my closest friends, and the College of Nursing. Indeed, I am so blessed.

Other people may think that pageants and beauty queens are overrated. I say, this experience has helped me become more real and actually believe in myself, having been the girl who used to never really have enough confidence. I also gained new friends through my fellow candidates. The story didn't end during the coronation night though, it actually was just the beginning. Good luck to me for the next 12 months! Everything about this is totally new to me.xD

BTW, barely two weeks after all that, I had to fulfill one of my first responsibilities (wow I actually have responsibilities now. lol.) which is to compete for another pageant, the Mutya ng PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) Regionals at Bulacan. I spent December 15-17 being absent in school (which saddens the nerd in me because I missed a lot) and mostly rehearsing or hanging out at the hotel room, living on burgers and mineral water. I wasn't exactly a fan of the adobong manok back there. I guess I just got used to the way Kapampangans do it.XD

Anyway, since God somehow likes me a lot (hehe kapal) I got the title Mutya ng PRISAA for Region III along with two other special awards, Ms. Photogenic and Best in Filipiniana. I'll be in the national competition in Bicol next year so cross your fingers for me..:)

Thanks to the special people who became part of those three days --- my co-candidates, Sir Poklong, Sir Boron, Ate Ardi, Franchette, Sir Polic, Sir Dumboo, Sir Daenos, Sir Adrian and the kind people from CCA.

I'm supposed to thank God in here too but I'm sure He knows that already. I asked Him a little but He gave me a lot.XD

I realize it's almost Christmas already, my favorite time of the year! and Yay I'm actually blogging again..OMG it's been TWO MONTHS since my last blog post. What a shame. I missed this place..XD

another one down. three more to go.
1st sem is over. surprise. surprise. This has got to be the shortest sem ever.
Well, it feels that way.
I must say, nabitin ako.

Anyway, like any other normal student I've also been longing for sembreak to come.
But now that it's finally here, somehow it doesn't feel right at all.
I've only spent one day of vacation at home and now I'm bored out of my mind.
Feeling ko wala akong silbi. Hehe.
I guess I've just been used to the toxic lifestyle.

I'll miss group 14.
I'll miss Xitt group.
I'll miss my instructors especially Sir _____. Haha. (**EDIT: I had to delete that coz Thony went mad when he read it. hehe. peace.)

BTW, belated congratulations to the Nightingale band (our college's official band) for winning "best common piece" at the inter-college battle of the bands. Of course I was the proud groupie who cheered to death for the guitarist.. who, well, happens to be Thony.

P.S. Oh and about that previous post.. Yes, for some obscure reason and weird turn of events, I did end up getting into that Ms. Univ. pageant. Sshhh.. don't ask why or how. Anyhoo, finals night is on December. Well, I'm new at this thing so wish me luck! Hope I don't trip over or say something funny out loud.XD

I can't believe it's October already. I've kind of been losing track of time lately. Ciao!

you know, they weren't always cute.
Contrary to what it may seem like, no, this blog has not been abandoned. Ok so i'm back. What the hell, I don't even know where and how to start my babbling.
So what have I been up to anyway? Well for one, I've been delivering babies. Yep. Real live human babies. Honestly, never have I thought that one day I'd be saying something like that.. mainly because I've never really pictured myself taking this line of career back then. But that's another story. Right now I wanna talk about the human babies...

So it's true. Their heads really do get molded.. bent into ovoid shapes as they make their way out of their mother's you-know-what. For one second there, I pitied that very 1st baby coz I thought she had some kind of cranial abnormality because the top of her head was severely malformed. But realizing Anatomy and Physiology, I quickly remembered that "molding" was nothing but a normal mechanism which every baby undergoes to get out more easily. Their heads assume normal shapes later on. Yeah stupid me.

And also, I've been told on lectures that they shall look "blue" (or cyanotic) for the first few minutes of their lives in the outside world. And indeed they are.. literally blue that is. They don't look human at all.. they're rather more like how I imagined the mandrakes in the Harry Potter books. Or maybe like small aliens from some kind of obscure planet where people are blue. Not earthlings at all.

But then you bathe them, suction them, keep them warm and wrap them into small delicate bundles under the drop light and within 5 minutes they transform into fragile wonderful creatures. Not blue, but with the color of life, almost pinkish. Indeed, gifts from God Himself. Then a proud smile creeps across your face for being the one to help such a beautiful creation be brought to earthly life.

The mother on labor has another story though. She has the face of pain and sacrifice all throughout the process. When I was decked for the very first time, the blood drained from my face when the attending physician performed the episiotomy. He injected anesthesia and cut her perineal area so grossly like it was some kind of meat, like it was something he does each day. But then I had to get over that real fast and had to avoid fainting because there was some baby-catching to be done. Later, I delivered the placenta. The placenta! I delivered it! Then even later on I assisted with stitching her up. Surreal. What with all the blood all over the place. I definitely appreciate mothers more now.

My experience in the Delivery Room rotation was a memorable one. I feel so comfortable now with "Katorse", my RLE group (BSN III-4 grp. 14). We laugh most of the time, especially on those days when D.R. would be a drag and no one would give birth at all.

Anyway, on to other matters.. There are actually more things I would like to put in here such as my sister's 18th birthday party last July (yeah I know it's August already. very late post.), my reunion with my ex-bestfriends, and my latest obsession. But maybe I'll talk about those later on. Long stories.

Ciao.! Be back soon. At least I hope so.

on banana splits and meddling kids
Today, I was in charge with the banana split.

It's the dessert for our cooking lab project menu for Nutrition. Our group was supposed to formulate, calculate and cook a therapeutic diet menu for an Underweight patient as our final requirement for the subject. I readily volunteered for the banana split part coz I figured it's probably the only part I won't screw up and coz I didn't know how to cook Pork Torta anyway (or any other equally or more complex dish for that matter). Yes, Torta is the main dish of our presentation. Until now, I still can't figure out why the heck we agreed on choosing Torta out of thousands of other dishes in the world but the food kind of turned out quite well anyway. So no regrets on that.XD

As for the banana split, I say it tasted fantastic! But that's just me.

I wonder what the panelists thought about it..?! Hope they liked it even if the ice cream kind of melted a little already because of longstanding.. *crossing fingers*

Anyway it's been a stressful day. I've been in a really grumpy mood lately and the kids hovering around me right now as I am typing this post in this unknown-to-me internet cafe aren't helping either.

BTW, I didn't land in this internet cafe totally by choice. The one I usually go to when I wait for Thony to finish NCM just happens to have a malfunctioning system today. And so I'm stuck here in this internet shop instead where the air smells fugly and wherein, in some funny and unexplainable reason, 99% of their client population are kids under 8 years old. There are like 25 screaming kids in this room right now. And now that I come to think of it, I'm probably the only customer in here at this moment who's taller than 5 feet!

There are around 6 kids all huddled on the next PC beside me and are playing this dress-my-dolly kind of game. They play it like it's a matter of life and death. Also, there's one kid on my left side who I swear is staring at my face and I have no idea why.

I wonder if they are literate enough to comprehend what I'm writing about them.. coz I swear they're occasionally peeking (or deliberately staring, rather!) on my screen.

Ok, as of a few seconds ago, they all just totally ran away laughing. Thank goodness they're gone. Oh I see why, they just landed a porn site!

There's nothing I'd rather be doing right now than be at home and continue my blogging there, a more private place where people are less annoying and sneaky.

dahil mababaw lang ang tuwa ko..
kaya naman natawa ako dito.. (lifted from i-can't-remember-where)

buti pa ang kalendaryo may date
buti pa ang hersheys may kisses
buti pa ang probability may chance
yung ibang tao wala!

Nakakainis lang talaga kasi they took away my precious summer vacation!!!

Andyan ang mga bago (pati luma) kong kaibigan araw-araw at marami akong bagong natututuhan as opposed to two months of sedentary lifestyle I used to always have kapag darating na ang April at May. Nakaka-elevate nga naman ng pagkatao. haha.

Hmm.

Ai oo nga pala, speaking of Jose Rizal, pinanood namin sa klase yung movie ng life niya para sa PSEUDO-major subject namin for summer: the Rizal course. It was the version starred by Cesar Montano. The rest is corny and more teary-eyed history.

happy bday to my friends juni, jo and amie..
tnx to gyk for the tips!:)

what's left of a summer vacation
(More photos of our beach trip at annscreams.multiply.com.)

Hey there. I apologize for the not-too-long absence.. I've got one week before our summer classes start.. Might as well make the most out of it..

Oral defense for the CDx is finally over. Big whew. I wouldn't want to elaborate but to summarize how it went, let me quote Mr. Lagazon, one of our panelists and only the oldest (literally) and most "batikan" among all C.I.s in our college: "I must say that you did a very good work." Quite a bland and simple statement to quote.. but there really was something blissfully fulfilling with the way he said it. You should've heard it yourself. I'm so thankful that the panelists' decision for our work is not to start all over again, a verdict which other sections sadly got.

But that's not the end of CDx. We still have a few revisions to do on it. Our house have constantly been the home of some classmates for a few days now. CDx has kind of taken over what was left of a summer vacation for me. But even so, I wasn't going to let it completely grab all opportunities to have fun. Duh.

Starbucks at SM Clark has finally opened. And it's not helping at all with my coffee addiction. Haha. Thony, Red, Arren, Mitch and I hung out at the place after spending the whole day at my house patching CDx things up. Had fun. Coffee and friends never fail to make me happy.

But it's not only coffee and friends that do.. The sun, sea's waves pushing on me as I lie on white sand, cool reggae music by the beach, a two-piece swimsuit, some yummy "talaba", lots of great food, beach volleyball with complete strangers, rockin' henna tattooes, and quality time with my mom, dad and sister also do make me sooooo happy.

We drove to the Camayan Beach at Subic to get some kind of timeout for all of us. The place is so damn "photogenic". I wasn't glad to leave at all even if I was undeniably exhausted in the end.

Oh and yeah I made it a point not to stay too long under the sun.. I'm not exactly the person who would look better with an even tanner skin than the one I already have inherited from my dad. I've no problem with being morena though.. hahah.

On to other serious matters.. I've developed yet another addiction.. Something which I, like all other addicts feel toward their addiction, unfortunately but delightedly can't get enough of. Alright I'll spill. It's the Gossip Girl Series. Dammit. One time, I ended up sleeping at 4am coz I won't turn off the DVD player. It's just so fckin'.. err what's the word?! Phenomenally engrossing. But that's just me. I easily get seduced by the kind of glamor that its story has.

Hooray Thony's guitar (yeah the one that got broken in two coz of me) is finally cured! He spent a whole lot for him just to hear its voice again (his motto is "treat your guitar like your wife"!) and it was all worth it coz now the guitar looks brand new. Beautiful. Just the way it has always been.

BTW speaking of my guy, Thony's older brother purchased a handsome Toyota Vios. Now Thony, being the "sipsip" younger bro that he is, would of course be free to drive it around. Ok now I'm green with envy. But I'm the younger bro's girlfiriend so I'm sure to get free rides anyway. hihihi..

That's all for now. Ciao!

XOXO Gossip Girl's fan.
Or maybe that doesn't work. hehe.
