something sinister this way comes
This photo I took of a cemetery months ago gave me goosebumps the first time I saw it. Creepy. I guess a lot could happen when you're using expired film (no edits here of course!). I know it's probably just light leaks but it still is freaky.!

It reminds me of how I imagined the setting on one of my favorite book series. Well, speaking of that particular book series.. I mentioned in my previous post something about "my latest obsession".. ok so here it is..

Drumroll please....

It's the Twilight series..! I don't expect you to be surprised, it's gone really popular these days.. what with the movie adaptation coming and all.. not to mention the overly hot lead actor chosen to play Edward Cullen --- Robert Pattinson (please remind me to stop drooling).

My sister and I bought the first book, Twilight, months ago. But it was only a week ago that I had the time to start reading it. I was so absorbed that I put it down only to eat, shower and sleep for 3 hours. Upon finishing it a day and a half later, I knew I just fell in love again. To whom, I'm not really sure. The story is your typical teenage love story, but with an edge that is... mainly because the girl (Bella) is an ordinary seventeen-year-old mortal who fell in love with a guy (Edward) who is not only a 90-year-old (if I'm not mistaken) vampire but also is hot, perfect and immortal.(!!)

The story is painfully heart-wrenching and nostalgically inspiring so I highly recommend it to all bookworms and hopeless romantics out there..:)

I've got ebooks of New Moon and Eclipse but I feel bad about stealing from Stephenie Meyer (who by the way is probably filthy rich already) and I'm not very fond of reading off the pc for hours at a time so I'm eventually going to get original copies of them for myself anyway. Maybe tonight I'll check out other bookstores in town *evil grin*.

I have to get my hands on those two asap or I'll end up skipping them and going straight to Breaking Dawn which I already have a copy of. Ugh the temptation.!

************

This never gets old. I miss him. I miss us.

Oh no we didn't break up or anything close to that. We just don't see each other too often anymore. Yeah you guessed right, it's because of school business again.! Sunday is our day though. We're going to Church then have coffee in a while. So buh-bye! XD

I notice I've been using the word 'sinister' a lot lately.

******

[EDIT] Soo I just got back from that date with him. I'm actually grinning right now.:) Plus I also was able to grab a copy of Eclipse already. Too bad they didn't have a copy of New Moon which isn't hard-bound (hard-bounds are more expensive, making me a little too guilty too buy one). Three down, one more to go!

BTW, I also bought my fisheye camera a lace. I feel I owe it some kind of compensation or apology after irresponsibly losing its lens cap months ago. XD

Shock of the day: I just spotted my sister's stolen phone FOR SALE at the mall today!

cdx, recognition, french baker and dirt cheap cameras!
This week, CDX (community diagnosis) has taken over everyone's lives.. or well, the lives of sophomore students at our college for that matter.

Our class had its first exposure to the community of San Jose last Wednesday and even though it was definitely not as easy as 1-2-3, I still enjoyed the first experience with my classmates. I'm just a little anxious about the next steps because as the leader in our group, I seem to be one of those whom our instructors depend on to organize the class on this whole thing. I don't want the added responsibility but I can't do anything about it.

First day was exhausting and so will be the following days.

On to other matters.. It was the college recognition day last Friday and I was one of those recognized. Plus my sister too. Our level coordinator cancelled all the awardees' 2-5pm classes which meant that I didn't have to attend RLE class. I felt that it was completely unnecessary to cancel class since the awarding ceremonies shall not start until 5pm but heck I didn't want to miss that wonderful opportunity to skip community diagnosis for once, so I was happy and contented with the level coordinator's decision! And so since I had 3 hours of nothing-to-do time, I guiltily went home, took a nap, went online, ate a can of Stik-o and pampered meeself while the rest of my classmates marched yet again to the battlefield called San Jose. Hihihi.

5pm came. My parents, grandma, aunt, Thony and Tin's boyfriend Jerome were there to watch. My dad was the one who went up the stage with me since my mom already did last year. Felt great shaking hands with the dean and all that stunt, but the ceremony lasted too long that my empty stomach kept grunting the whole time. Badong and Mike (my other scholarly and equally hungry classmates) kept texting to me their desperations and boredom throughout the progam.

I ate a hearty dinner as soon as we reached home where a bunch of our relatives were waiting. When Thony left, I had no one my age to talk to so I invited my kid cousins over to my room. And I played games with them! They really liked me I must say.: )

I like kids. They're devoid of any malicious intent towards their fellow humans. Kids never give fake smiles. They may fight over the littlest things but forget about it after a few minutes. If only adults could follow their example.. then the world shall get rid of all that shit.

Oh and I also thanked God for giving me some brains.

Saturday came and I'm off to school again for community diagnosis matters. Yung group lang namin ang sumipot sa "class" meeting. And I'm proud of our group for that. hehe. Tallying was crucial and suspenseful.

Afterwards, Thony, Red, Khay, Jan, Paul and I hit SM Clark for some real food. We hoarded the "eat all you kan-in" at Tokyo Tokyo. After Jan and Paul left, the four of us remaining felt that we still haven't had our fill yet so we went around looking for merienda and found French Baker inviting.

We spent almost two hours sitting at the place wherein we picked on passers-by and innocent-looking foreigners. Red and Khay also filled me and Thony in on all the dirty gossip (I'm stupid when it comes to gossip so someone has to narrate to me the happenings every other time). We laughed 'til the nearby foreigners stared at us and all the food we ate got digested and we felt hungry all over again. Aw I so loove Red, Khay and Thony.:D

My two VIVITAR IC100 cameras have arrived yesterday. I can't believe they only cost fifty pesos each. Yes you read right. Fifty freakin' pesos each. They're practically DIRT CHEAP so I bought two units. The shipping fee even costs higher than the two units combined! Even a roll of film is more expensive!

I also can't believe that I haven't even paid for them yet. Shame on me. Argh. (REALLY HUGE apology to Jami, I promise to deposit the payment ASAP.)

Can't wait to load my vivi with film and go shooting! I'm giving the other one to Thony.. I'm trying to convert him. Hihihi.:D

one hell of a sunday
(late post)
Last Sunday (Feb. 10, '08), minutes before the sun went up, Thony and I left home for the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Fiesta at Clarkfield. We got there (10 minutes later) just in time to see the balloons being inflated. About every person in the field was holding his or her camera ready. 'Twas really chilly outside but we didn't mind. For a number of mushy reasons, I really luuurrv how that morning felt.: )

A little while later the balloons were huge blobs hovering above the heads of hundreds of spectators.. I especially liked the giant squid and Kellogg's..:D Then a little while later they were in flight... and a little more while later, uh well what do you know, they were GONE!! I wish they'd have stayed longer.. But at least I got to take photos. More photos at annscreams.multiply.com

But that's not where the fun ended coz there were actually lots of other things to enjoy at the event. The skydivers left me in awe and envy. Camwhored all over the place, with special participation of soldiers in full battle gear. Thony also wanted to go kiteflying, but that's before we realized that we've spent almost all the money we brought on foodtrip and voodoo dolls already. And so we were broke for the day.. which means no kite for him. :P

The only sad thing that happened that morning was losing my Fisheye's lens cap. I dropped it somewhere near the gate just before entering. We kept looking for it but it never showed up.. I so hate myself for that.: (

Later in the afternoon, I had an appointment with my sister and cousins. Kuya Jay treated us for merienda at SM Clark coz he just had one of his first salaries from his new work. There was one particular thing that we kept laughing about that day. For a long while we can't stop ourselves. People probably thought we were high or something. Then we camwhored at the Meeting Place and the parking lot. After that, Tin, Patti and I did a whole LOT of walking.. with no exact destination.. Ewan ko ba anong pumasok sa isip namin non at naglakad na lang kami nang naglakad.. tumawa nang tumawa.. nagpicture nang nagpicture.. at kumain nang kumain.. HEhehe. When Tin and I reached home, hala, no one was home so we couldn't enter the house.. For a long while we stayed at a nearby sari-sari store muna... and uhm basta ehe. Ok tamad ko na ituloy. Basta it was one crazy Sunday!!!^_^

Btw, greetings to Aunt Belita.. thanks for visiting my little blog.: )

i see red
I never really wanted to have too much red.. but I guess that's what you usually get from xpro'ed Fuji Sensia..

More photos on my new multiply site.

Christmas this year turned out pretty well except for that part when my mom and dad got into another L.Q. (lovers' quarrel) on Christmas day and we all ended up staying home instead of going to the mall to see a movie. They made up before the day ended and we all sat by the round table in our garden with that huge green umbrella, chattering away and trying to finish off the left-over foods from the Noche Buena. There's just so much food that until today our ref's still stuffed with things from the 24th!

Speaking of Noche Buena, as usual I spent mine with family and relatives. Thony also came by and brought a cake for the whole family (pagood-shot ba). Oh and I also made some buko pandan salad.. my very first time. I did it with Tin and well, it turned out pretty fine and green of course. Kudos to us I guess!

On the 28th, I spent the morning at Thony's house.. we watched movies and hoarded their pear-shaped ham. Hihi. I loved the ham. I just hope his brothers don't come home looking for it.. coz it's gone. After that (matapos pagsawaan ang bahay ni Thony), we went over to SM (para magpalamig lang).. where we met Jacel and some other Acts people. Since Jacel and I have an appointment with the other Biggies (my high school barkada's name) for the afternoon, the two of us went off to Gizzelle's house while Thony went home

Here are some proofs of me and my friends' camwhoreness. I missed them so much.. grabeng pagtawa yung ginawa namin. We had fun reminiscing the eras of our friendship.. with special attention to MY ever-changing image.. yes.. my ever-changing image which I don't ever wanna talk about but which they keep bringing up every reminiscing time.

Too bad I wasn't able to join the sleepover with my friends coz there's another slumber party going on at my own house so I had to go home at 9:30 to divide my time between the two events.. The sleepover at home was with my sister and cousins. There was so much happening around the house that night too.. what with the commotion that my sister's lovelife made that night (her boyfriend got caught doing something which he's not supposed to be doing..) and that mysterious lady which my cousin Patti reportedly saw at our bar counter downstairs.. Patti said that the "ghost" was even talking to someone on the phone (sosyal naman yung ghost na yun). Err.. I'm supposed to be scared now but since it's Christmas I won't be. C'mon ghosts don't show up during Christmas!! Or do they?! *shiver*

Ok that's all for now.. My stomach's hungry again. Ciao.

BTW, on the 23rd my family and I went around the city giving out the extra cavan of rice we had at home to some Aetas who came down from the mountains to solicit for food or a few coins from the city people. I can never fully describe in here how my heart was broken upon seeing how badly they truly need the society's attention and help to survive. I saw in them the face of Filipino Christmas.. sheer poverty.

happy birthday Jesus (naks).

not-so-secret love affair
Mood: chill-chill

Yipee! This morning, I finally received the package which contains the Fuji Sensia slide films I ordered from one of the nice people of lomomanila (huge thanks to kuya Jay Ravelo!!). I've been watching a pirated DVD of one of John Lloyd's movies (yep you read right.. believe it or not, I love John Lloyd coz he kinda reminds me of someone I know hihihi) with Bea when I realized that the package of films that I've been waiting for has finally arrived and has been sitting right beside the tv for hours already. Oo na mulala na kung mulala. Anyway, I've loaded the first roll and I can't wait to take Fishywishy out to shoot. The other babies are chilling in the freezer now...

Let me tell you a secret..
I'm having a love affair... with FILM.
Ssshhh.. Don't tell my boyfriend. haha.

Pahinga muna ko sandali sa digicam and camera phones.
Ooh it's six days before Christmas.. but I can't feel it just yet. Maybe tomorrow I will. But not today.. I'm still recovering pa kasi from the brain torture that prelim exams gave me. Well, the exams really weren't that hard if you ask me (or anyone else who took the exam maybe).. I just hate the reviewing part. It's torture. Ok, tamad na kung tamad.

BTW, because of the exams Thony and I weren't able to do anything special to celebrate our 21st month which was last monday. All we did was review together at my home... But it doesn't matter.. Any day with him is special.
Ang kyut naman ng ice cream na 'to.

carnivals and cats
Mood: moody

People say that carnival rides make you forget, for those few seconds you're on top of the world, everything. It's just you, the adrenaline, the ringing silence, the cold air, and the dark but happy sky. Everything else is far away, minute.. with no one and nothing to bother you.

I say the ugly feelings never went away.

Ok whatever. But man if you're from around Angeles City you definitely wanna go to Clark's Boom na Boom and try this freakin' ride.. coz if not, then you're missing half your life! It's called the Super Loops.. walangya, muntik na kong masuka. You'll feel like a live human stuffed helplessly in a gigantic washing machine.

Warning: DEFINITELY NOT for the faint-hearted.. at magpray ka na rin na wag sanang masira yung mga bakal-bakal habang nakabitin ka ng pabaliktad sa taas ng ilang segundo... which felt A LOT longer. But don't worry, it only looks scary.. Err ok, it really IS scary. My cousins, sister and I had a lot of fun though. Even if we did swear (for the second time) to never come back.

Anyway, on to other things... I spent Tuesday afternoon with Jan and Mitch at Jan's place. Jan introduced me to Bruce, only the cutest and most obedient cat I've laid hands on.. or probably the only cat I've ever laid hands on.. as far as I could remember..

I hate cats. They scare me. They're weird for a number of reasons.. as if they know something humans don't know.. But Bruce makes me want to own one. I crave for one! Damn I want a Himalayan cat!

It's our school's University Week this week so we're not supposed to have classes.. but since Nursing is mercilessly brutal, pumasok pa rin kami kahapon. Ganyan talaga ang buhay. May mga bagay na dapat mo na lang tanggapin kahit masakit.

For the opening of the U week, we had the usual Fun Run which starts early in the morning. Yeah they call it Fun Run but no one does actually run.. I think they should change it to Fun Walk.. Or maybe Walk for A Cause, like the one we used to have back in HFA. I brought Fishywishy along with me and shooted like mad around the city only to find out, after all has been said and done, na wala na pala siyang baterya. BIG Leche.

Well, the only way to find out if the battery is still working is to turn on the flash function and try it. But that morning, I didn't need the flash coz everything was bright and sunny anyway.. so ayun.. Malay kong wala na pala siyang baterya?! Badtrip. Wrong timing.

Anyway, a few days ago, I went to Digiprint to have my 4th film cross-processed. Unfortunately they didn't know what I was talking about. I kept trying to explain about E6, slides and color negatives, but they seemed to think I was a know-it-all alien from another world or something. After some minutes of frustration they finally decided to contact their Main branch in Manila and found out that such a thing exists pala. (Hah. In your face.) I can't believe people could work at a photo lab and know so little about what they're doing.

BTW, Thony and I watched "Enchanted" a few days ago. If not for Patrick Dempsey I would say it is the corniest movie I've ever watched. Ok, it is the corniest movie I've ever watched.

Oh my God. Nalunok ko yung buto ng chico. Siyet. I wonder how long it would want to stay in my throat... Oh yes, it's stuck there. Talk about good luck.

Thony and I are Dr. Pearl addicts.

a series of unfortunate events
Mood: err.. can't think of a mood right now. BTW, I'm sorry for the really long posts. I just really write a lot. I can't seem to control myself.

I would be bluffing if I told you that the reason why I have't been able to update in about a week is because I've been busy with school since second semester has finally started. In fact, what I did a lot for the whole week was sleep, sleep and sleep like a bear in hibernation.

The reason why I've been away from the PC (yeah like anybody cares that much) is that our home lost both phone and internet connection for one whole week because some rude and ruthless thief stole the telephone wires which are supposed to be connecting our home to the outside world... and he probably did steal a bunch of other neighboring houses' wires too. The guy (or guys, girl, girls.. whatever.. I've no idea) should damn well be desperate to keep his family alive to do such a brutal thing as to deprive me with internet connection in the comfort of my own home!Tama bang pagdiskitahan pati linya ng telepono?!! Anyway, the problem's fixed now so I'm back.

It's one sad truth about living in the Philippines. People could go about stealing anything from national funds to the wet clothes hung in the clothesline on your backyard. Others steal things to fight off hunger and have their children survive through another day while others do it because they're too greedy and selfish to be contented with a few luxurious mansions under their names. But hey, I need not be particular with the Philippines about stealing. It happens all over the world. Duh.

Anyway, since my post is entitled 'a series of unfortunate events', which I obviously stole from that movie entitled the same, let's move on to the other bad lucks I've had this week...

There's still no news on my budding career as a lomographer except for that tragic one which tells of my second roll of film returning only 9 out of 24 shots for a mysterious reason which to this day I still haven't figured out. I'm working on my 3rd roll now. I hope such tragedy doesn't happen again. Please cross your fingers for me.

I got an excuse slip from the very first RLE class of the semester (not a very good first impression to give your new clinical instructors). Guess why? I forgot to wear my freakin' wristwatch!... something which only an absent-minded person filled with neglect and reckless imprudence could do. I sure did have my fair share of rants from the year level coordinator for committing such a crime. Yeah, in Nursing not wearing your wristwatch is a heinous crime. Or at least in our university where everything is supposed to be exaggerated.

On the same day, I also forgot two of my newly purchased school books at the comfort room. Yeah, like, FORGOT. I only realized that I wasn't carrying them with me after an hour.! The person who found them apparently didn't think of looking for the rightful owner or surrendering them to the lost and found section as options. She probably thought she was having really good luck that day coz I never found the books again. Oh but there's REALLY nothing to fuss about, the books ONLY cost 700 pesos anyway! That's only about one huge and mouth-watering Yellow Cab pizza! Right. I so hate myself for that.

Oh and apparently, Thony hated me too for that (he was the one who spent time waiting at the looong queue to the university bookstore to buy those books for me on that very same morning)! He called me "bobo".. as in unintelligent, unsmart, pinhead, dimwit, stupid.. or whatever other word which means the same. I cried. Yeah. It was sad. Although, erm, he did have a point. But still, I got angry.. and I ended up making him cry too.! Hah, payback is sweet. lol.

Anyway, all the bad luck seem to have been warded off by my new doll.. it's a voodoo doll actually. I know voodoo dolls are made to cause their objects bad luck and other terrible and tragic things but I'm not intending on using it on anyone (unless someone makes me really angry.. hihihi.. nah just kidding.. don't be scared, I'm harmless..). This doll was hand-made for me by my good high school friend Nico. He's the one who always loved witchy stuff and I'm not sure if he has pursued his being Wiccan. As a kid, I've always wanted to be a witch. But as I grew older I figured my parents would kill me if I did become one. I've tried doing a spell with two of my friends back in high school though. Err, nothing worked. But we had fun being creepy that day.

BTW, I would like to thank those who suggested names for my new sneering devil doll mentioned on my previous post. You made me happy. : ) Thony said he looks like that Pokemon named Gengar. So I decided to name it.. well.. yeah.. GENGAR! Talk about being original.

About my new classmates, they're ok. I have new friends.. Jan and Mitch. I so looove them right now coz they've been so nice to me since day one.I'm also loving my schedule coz it's compatible with Thony's so now I won't have to wait for him for an hour and a half each day anymore like I did last semester. But I'm really missing Peachy, Joan and Rain. Ow.

I spent yesterday at Candaba with the whole family for my uncle's victory party. He won as councilor, for the third time in a row! Nagvideoke kami ng kapatid at pinsan ko. Nung una kunwari nahihiya-hiya pa, tapos maya-maya nag-aagawan na sa mic. Hehehe. Oh here's a picture from our way to Candaba. It doesn't really make any sense. I just love the blue skies and the endless green fields.

I'm also happy to announce that our Christmas tree is now standing tall and proud at the living room!

LomoLove
Mood: in love

uh i'm sorry for the unannounced hiatus. i've been a little busy lately.. plus i think our pc's mad at me. it shuts down ten minutes after i turn it on. but we've made peace now. hmm.. so, what have i been up to anyway?

well for one thing, i spent 2 days of bloody battle just to freakin' get enrolled for the next semester. i had to deal with employees on menopause (both women and men!) who shouted at students for asking questions or for no reason at all, and FOUR WHOLE hours lined up at the accounting office. i seriously think that the university should improve their system.

but it was all worth it anyway coz at the end of the day i finally got the discount money from my scholarship. the discount percentage varies depending on what your average is. this sem i got a 45% discount which is a lot higher than what i got last year. weee.. i'm rich! one of the major reasons why i strive to get good grades is this reward money hihihi. yes, i'm materialistically evil.

so, since i'm rich nowadays i dragged my dad to manila to help me buy my own lomo camera. i'm not sure if you've heard of lomography yet but if you haven't, you have to try it. it's a lot of fun. lomography uses toy cameras and brings back film into the digital world we have today. lomo cams are so cute and vintage. their main concept is actually "don't think, just shoot". it's really all about putting extra fun in photography. if you want one though, you won't find them at malls anywhere. you'll have to order them over the net, go to quiapo, or in my case visit Teammanila, a really cool lomoshop somewhere in Makati. Lomography is not that popular in the Philippines yet but back in manila, lomographers have their own community called lomoManila. i was thinking of creating "lomoAngeles".. haha. but i know no lomographers around here. that's sad.

anyway, since i'm still an amateur at this thing, i bought one of the most basic of all lomocams but probably one of the most fun to work with.. it's the Fisheye 2. i named mine Fishywishy. lol. with this cam, everything is seen in a 180-degree world. i also got a Colorsplash Flash with it for some color. i had my first film developed at digiprint a few days ago. errrm, most of them were awfully ugly. ow it's my fault anyway.. i should've read the techniques first before shooting like mad. oh well, we learn from our mistakes, right? eheh.

anyway, the following are fisheye shots at home and from the Tigtigan Terakan King Dalan last oct 27. the last giant beer picture is not from fishywishy though. it's just so cute i wanna hug it. hihi.

i went to the tigtigan with thony, tin and her new guy jerome. we did a lot of walking and after about an hour found a table for ourselves. i'm glad it was near the stage so i got to see the dawn perform. silent sanctuary was also there but i'm not that familiar with their music. the last band i saw, five against the wall, was my favorite among all those i've seen that evening. they're reggae and they played "no woman no cry"... an all-time favorite of mine.

i know that brawls are essential in tigtigan events but this one is probably the most chaotic tigtigan i've ever been to. glad we came out unhurt, although i wanted to kick that guy who showered us with beer while we were innocently passing by. we were at my home just before the sun came up. thony and i slept at the living room.. i took the long couch while he slept on the cold floor. we were knocked out. tin said that one of us was snoring... oh but it wasn't me! hihi.

for halloween, as is our family tradition, my mom bought candies for us to give away to trick or treating kids. i saw this one kid wearing horns (yung umiilaw na sungay ng devil na sinusuot na parang headband) who was so cute that i gave him extra candies.

Nov. 1 of this year was a little different from my other usual 1st of Novembers because instead of going to La Pieta in the evening, we visited our dead loved ones early in the morning. ow i miss my lola "Sofia" and lolo "Ernesto". naks. sosyal ang pangalan. afterwards, we went to Candaba for my dad's dad, lolo "Jose".

potter, one of our dogs, has a new haircut. he's bald and ugly now. but i'm sure his hair will grow back in a few weeks anyway. oh yah and btw, we also voted for the barangay elections. i voted for our neighbor and he won!

i've done the semestral general cleaning of my room and i swear you can't imagine how much junk has accumulated there in a matter of 5 months. it's somehow clean now.

now i have to face reality: vacation's almost over. no more time for procrastination. ugh. i sometimes hate reality.
